…eventually race a 400 again, and perhaps a 200 if that goes well. If you're just getting started sprinting, I recommend sprinting up hill, or sprinting on grass. These are ways to reduce impact as you learn form. A well maintained track isn't such a bad place to start either. I'll leave you with a video of a distance runner doing sprint drills link to this video…

On “Foot Arch s”

…h you have odd arches that you can limit your injury. **Form Drills** Occasionally ever runner will get injured. Those like myself tend to get injured a bit more often when we do not do other forms of strengthening and physical therapy. The items I do about once to twice a week and are addressed really well in a video done by Dathan Ritzenhein (link to this video (*his entire video series on youtube is great to watch!*) **Core** This kind of falls into the the above category, but I cannot stress how important this is for great form and thus injury prevention. Personally I do these daily except for workout days: Squats, lunges, crunches, leg lifts to strengthen my hips, leg lifts, planks, etc.. **S…

On “4th year of track and xc and feel like I’m losing it”

…Make sure that you’re actively maintaining your flexibility by doing dynamic form drills. It’s easy to get stuck in a hips-and-glutes rut as a distance runner. Given how much time we spend sitting, it’s super important to not let your stride ‘lock up.’ I use the following routines, both as a runner and as a coach: Dathan Ritzenhein’s form drills: link to this video Jason Fitzgerald’s ITB rehab routine: https://strengthrunning.com/2011/02/the-itb-rehab-routine-video-demonstration/ 2) Everything you do should be through the lens of purposeful effort management. I teach middle school runners that they have “six gears, like a sports car.” 1st gear: baby jog ~25% effort; 2nd gear: warmup jog ~50% effort;…

On “Chiropractor warned me about my running form..”

Do you currently practice form drills and dynamic stretching? I agree that nobody is going to be able pinpoint your problem. However, if you are going to sprint anyways doing some basic drills before your workout isn't a bad idea and might improve your form. You certainly don't want to sprint cold. Dathan Ritzenhein is a distance runner but he has some good videos of stretches and drills. If you're just looking for a routine that will prepare you to do some speed work these videos might help. HIIT help Im going to start doing HIIT with sprinting. But i dont want to injure myself due to bad form, what can i do about this? Ive already bought a pair of decent running shoes. Im only going to run on grass. I do mobility work everyday. Ive already found a good sprinting warm up/stretches that i can do before and after. And to start of im just going to do hill sprints for a few weeks so i can get used to it. For form im using this video as guidance And im using this video to help me with drills i can do before sprinting Is there anything else i can do?
