Dalilah Muhammad sets a world record in the 400m hurdles while being pushed to the limit by Sydney McLaughlin.

Welcome to the World Athletics Watch Party. Remember you can join the conversation on Twitter using the #WatchWorldAthletics hashtag. Dalilah Muhammad was driven every step of the way to improving her women’s 400m hurdles world record as she won gold in 52.16, a couple of pounding heartbeats ahead of her 20-year-old US rival Sydney McLaughlin. The latter was rewarded with silver in 52.23 – just three hundredths of a second off Muhammad’s original record – after a performance that hinted at riches to come in future years. What commenters say. Recommended as one of the best track videos showing an intense world-record race where both top competitors ran historically fast times.

Here's Dalilah Muhammad setting the current world record. Sydney McLaughlin runs the #3 performances all-time (#2 performer all-time) and also runs under what was the world record at the start of the season.

…requires a combination of a lot of different things - it's why a lot of athletes don't pursue it at high level as it's just extremely tough. She broke the record and the person that finished 2nd Sydney McLaughlin pushed her all the way. Like imagine running a WR time and still being pushed to your absolute limit with no opportunity to ease off. link to this video…
