Justin Gatlin discusses relay culture, rivalries, and builds his all-time relay teams on the Journey to Gold Zone Podcast.

Olympic champion Justin Gatlin joins Journey To Gold Zone Podcast for a deep dive into relay culture — from the highs of American record performances to the lesson learned from dropped batons and running multiple legs for Team USATF. Gatlin builds his all-time relay teams, including his Tennessee men's 4x100m, his picks for the best collegiate women's programs, his all-time 4x400m and 4x200m relays. He also weighs in on the rising challenge from Botswana in the 4x400m and what that rivalry means for them and Team USATF. The conversation looks back at iconic relay moments, including the 2015 World Relays and Ryan Bailey's celebration against Usain Boly, plus behind-the-scenes stories from the call room. Erik shares a personal story from 2008 Olympics that highlights Gatlin's role as a mentor, and the group discusses the importances of veterans pouring into the next generation. From all-time relay debates to unforgettable moments, this episode breaks down what it takes to win and sustain greatness on the biggest stages. Don’t miss the best of American track & field.
