ThrowsGlide, spin and footworkPower position and release

A short tutorial explains how to engage the lower body and twist the foot in the shot put power position.

Everything works from the ground up 👍🏼 When we hit power position, it’s important to remember that we have to let our lower body engage the throw before we start to move the upper body. Allow the foot to turn followed by the knees and hips to create the most separation possible into your throw 💪🏼 🔹 🔹 🔹 #allhartthrowers #technique #technician #throwing #trackandfield #athletics #coach #powerposition #shotput #discusthrow #separation

What commenters say. Recommended to help throwers avoid opening their shoulders too early and learn to twist the ball of the foot.

Other than my comment below. Yeah you’re opening your shoulders too early. Keep them oriented in the same way that you start the throw until the force of your legs and hips force you to turn. You’re also throwing off of your heel instead of the ball of your foot. Get on the ball and twist it in hard this engages the hips and creates a lot of torque between the upper and lower body Watch link to this video For a visual of the leg
