Coach Karim explains common sprinting technique errors, such as staying too low out of the blocks, and how to fix them.

Get the Sprinting Master Class and Training Guide outperformsports.com/product/sprinting-smarter-sprinting-fas… Learn some of the most common errors athletes make with sprinting technique and how to avoid them. In this lesson coach Karim shares the errors he has seen athletes make throughout his time working with elite sprinters as well as football players preparing for the NFL draft combine. Starting with the the most common mistake which is staying too low out of the blocks or at the beginning of the sprint. You'll learn why staying low dramatically reduces the ability to produce force down to the ground and' results in slower speed. Coach Karim provides an effective cue to help solve this issue. Another common error that is breaking at the waist. This breakdown in technique also inhibits speed and will result in slower times and can potentially lead to injuries. Learn how to spot a "fake lean" and some tips on optimal sprinting biomechanics. Athlete Insight sections - Olympians Jeremy Dodson and Janay DeLoach talk about the biggest myths and worst advice they heard in high school and why you should avoid them if you want to reach your potential.

What commenters say. Recommended for understanding proper torso and shin angles during the start phase to avoid forcing a low position.

On “Is it okay for my arms to bend at the elbows or should I keep them 90 degrees throughout the entire swing?”

Oh okay, I found another video by the same channel addressing the issue: [video So basically your torso lean should be at the same angle as your shin; if your torso is leaning more, then you’re more likely bending at the waist. I won’t lie, I did try to emphasize laying low for the video so I guess I’ll have to film again next week without forcing myself to lay low and see how my form is from there. I’ll also give a shot at the exercise you mentioned, seems like that would help a ton!

On “pretty new to sprinting, all advice is appreciated! pr is 12.6.”

If I can paste them for you I’m going to show two videos of sprint starting. First this is an example of American sprint starting and Jamaican sprint starting. But don’t worry about either for know. We will get into it later. Tell me witch one you think would fit you. American is the step out Jamaican is the toe slide. YouTube this is without toe drag. But I the guy had very good information so watch it. No second video gives a lot of information as well but with a toe drag. If you go to YouTube and type Jamaican sprint drills I think you can see them doing it also a skip step. That’s for later. But I think you the way you pick things up Really fast can and will get crazy faster.lol…

On “Help with form”

Nah bro along with those things form is always important regardless of age. I believe you are slightly¨running in the backyard¨ and not getting the best angles you could out your start phase. Here is a video to further explain what I mean: [video To add to what the last guy said you should consider joining a good track club that will train you properly and teach you good recovery and form as well. It is never too early to start if you are serious about becoming faster. You can look on the AAU website for track teams in your area: https://application.aausports.org/clublocator/?sSport\_cd=ZZ
