SprintsWarm-ups and drillsRunning form

A short demonstration shows how butt kicks improve backside mechanics, hamstring strength, and running form.

Probably the second most important drill in track and field (behind the A-Skip). Butt Kicks help develop great backside mechanics, enhance your running form, improve your hamstring strength, and ultimately lead to faster sprint times. #sprinting #100m #runfaster #howtorun #runningworkout

What commenters say. Recommended as a useful drill to improve upright sprinting form and back leg recovery.

On “Ideal for to sprint on a dirt track? Is my form correct for it?”

The trick here is to not do any static stretches. Because they loosen the elastic energy needed while sprinting. You can do this drill before starting.

On “Any advice on my form”

Looks pretty good for a soccer player. I typically see soccer players swinging their arms laterally. Main piece of advice would be to work on your foot strike. You’re coming down flat footed. Strike with the ball of your foot. All the basic drills target this - switches, skips, bounds. Next work on your back leg recovery. Heel should come up underneath you, rather than up behind you. Drive recovery through the hip. Dribble drills are good for this, as well as a sprinter variation of “butt kicks”. Dribbles: link to this video “Butt kicks”: link to this video
