Get the Sprinting Master Class and Training Guide outperformsports.com/product/sprinting-smarter-sprinting-fas… Run faster with proper sprinting technique. In order to maximize speed at the start of the race, you need to learn how to properly perform block starts. When done correctly, blocks starts are the best platform to apply maximum force in order to overcome inertia. This segment looks at how to properly work your way down from a 3 point start to achieving the hard post and triple extension out of the blocks. What commenters say. Highly recommended for beginners and athletes looking to improve their block setup, hip loading, and initial drive phase.

On “Can I get a review of my block starts?”

These comments are all terrible advice. A couple things to fix but the biggest is loading your hips back on set to get your feet planted in the blocks better. You can see they’re not loaded because your heels aren’t even down but then you have a slight backwards movement at go. I know of a video, I’ll find it. Edit: link to this video

I'd say just try and make that first stride as long as you can? This video also provides a lot of great tips link to this video

What I've noticed about amatuer sprinters when you get out the blocks, try to ensure you drive before thinking or moving head up to pop on the track. There is people that almost lose half a second from just trying to almost posture themselves before launching. Drive first don't posture up, you lose half a second. link to this video Notice how there is a immediate drive from the getgo, I shouldn't be able to see you thinking about posturing before the drive.

A few notes (but always best to work with a coach): The back leg may be too far back, and front leg a little too far forward. She's having to cycle that back leg a long way out of the pedals. She should be aiming for a choppier first step. And yes, as you observe, her first two steps should land more behind her hips. If you look at around 0:38-0:39, you see her back leg (the one closer to the car) cycle through a full motion, and her foot strikes just in front of her hips. She's pulling herself forward more than pushing. The other thing is that her hips should be slightly higher in the set position. Hips should be higher than the shoulders. This will probably happen naturally if her feet…

Frankly, your running form is poor all around. I would not expect a soccer player to have good running mechanics, but I would certainly encourage you to learn good mechanics to become a more efficient runner. Fix your general mechanics first. Then worry about start form. I would start here: Posture Basics - link to this video Accel Basics - link to this video More Advanced Accel - link to this video While you won’t be using blocks, the concepts still translate to 3 point starts.

On “Had some good starts work. Bad start on one not sure what went wrong any advice would be appreciated.”

Your core is strong enough, but you are not focused on it so you are losing it. You can see your back being over-bent instead of round. [video Look at the last couple of starting blocks from 3:10 to the end. As I say, you are strong enough, you are just (I believe) not being focused enough on it so you are losing your rounded back.

This is one of the better videos made link to this video It provides slightly advanced start techniques in an understandable fashion. It may use terminology that you’re not familiar with, that’s ok. It will give you direction to learn.
