What commenters say. Recommended as an excellent guide for learning proper sprint drills, particularly Lyles's version of the B-skip.

Has no one else seen this yet? Noah Lyles dropped on his youtube, his drill routine and proper form to do the drills. Feel like some people one here should see this, myself included.

On “As someone who is working on not extending at the knee too early, should I stop doing B-Skips?”

I like the Lyles rendition of the B. Never been a huge fan of the can-can version. link to this video

On “how do I run the 100m sprint faster?”

Sprinting is a sport, like football/soccer. There are different areas to focus on. Simplest and most effective training I can recommend is: - Don’t just do each of these, get really REALLY good at doing them quick, reactive and bouncy. Minimise your knee bend as best you can. link to this video - Do 20m flys, with about 4min rest between sprints. - Do plyometrics like drop jumps and speed bounds. - Do the Feed the Cats ‘Atomic Speed Workout’ on YouTube… after you’ve done about 15min of dynamic stretches and light drills.

On “I have long legs but a short stride. How can I lengthen my stride?”

link to this video Start Here. Short stride typically points more towards a lack of flexibility. However, if you're not activating secondary muscles while moving, you limit your range and power as well. Getting your body used to doing these will help the most. I'd add that hurdle drills can aid as well. Do not try to just alter your form to compensate for stride length, this will more than likely cause an injury. Are you in the weight room at all?

On “What should i work on? Need some tips.”

…By the time your CNS and muscles are ready to sprint at max you're already fatigued so you'll never be able to sprint as fast as you can. Spend at least 20min warming up before a session. My warmup is Phase 1, get blood flowing (5min) - 400m light jog, dynamic stretches. Phase 2, warmup muscles (10min) - Various drills, very similar to these [video Phase 3, fire up CNS (5min) - reactive hops over 15m, single leg hops, bounds, falling starts etc. I definitely think your main issues can be addressed by warming up properly, doing sleds or hills and some 40m flys. Getting better at pulling sleds is actually going to help your technique in the blocks too.…

On “I'm a beginner and what can I improve on my technique?”

Drills, drills and drills. link to this video This video is great. B skips are hard to do, I would look for specific tips on them.

On “20m sprint flying improvement needed!”

…e, but you need to gain strength 1st. (Trap bar deadlifts, step ups, hip thrusts will help). 4. You already do pogos, look into running stairs, jump roping and doing plyometrics such as low box switches, explosive sprinter step ups and same side lunge jumps. Just keep working at it and try to find your favorite sprinter and mimic what they do. link to this video…

On “How do I fix my form?”

Learn to do fundamental sprinting drills and skipping drills well. High knees, a-skip, b-skip.. that sort of thing. Practice them often with thoughtful intention. Incorporate them into your practice routine for every practice. I like the link to this video that Noah Lylee put out last year.

On “Me and my friend intend to improve our form any advice/tips?”

Yes, you are overstriding (I assume you are white shirt), but it is more visible in the backside mechanics. Your trailing leg spends a lot of time behind your body. And when one leg is spending too long in the air, the other leg is spending too long on the ground. Plus, your front foot is overstriding past your hip a little bit, which leads to more of a "pulling forward" looking movement than a "pushing off" movement. Work on faster turnover and getting the foot off the ground more quickly. Leg turnover drills (A skips, B skips, etc) will help. Your arm motion is not controlled, leading to a side-to-side movement of the upper torso, which costs energy. Make sure your arms do not cross you…

On “Hit a 100m PB!”

I watched two of the Noah Lyles videos religiously and copied what he’s telling me in them. Literally must’ve watched each video 100 times in 3 months. Noah Lyles also has a good gym routine in one of his videos as well as a solid book recommendation on the biomechanics of sprinting/running. 1. link to this video 2. link to this video This is a very rough breakdown of what I did. I also include 1000 jump rope skips every day. Usually takes me 10min. I also play hockey weekly in the winter and slow pitch weekly in the Spring/Summer. My gym workouts consisted of 1hr-1.5hr gym sessions: Monday: Chest Tuesday: Legs (heavy compound lifting) Wednesday: Back Thursday: Legs (Plyo and one leg work) Friday: Arms Sa…

On “looking to improve our technique/form”

Looks ok, you don't seem to be over striding or under striding by that much. You seem a bit stiff in your upper body. Maybe try relaxing a bit and allow your arms to really follow through, it seems like your cutting your stride short. You also seem a bit timid, which is to be expect in only 4 weeks, but really try pump your arms, and bring your knees up as the legs will follow the arms and vise versa. Drills will help a ton with this A-Skips, B-Skips, High Knees, Butt Kickers, Bounds, if you don't know what those are, watch this As for your friend. It looks like he is coming out of his drive phase, but he doesn't. He needs to keep his head level, torso up, and not swing his arms side to…

On “I ran 12.7s in 100m. What training should I do to do sub 12s by the end of 2025?”

…is probably going to be just over 13sec FAT. Sub 12 is going to be a very tall ask, without coaching and in such a short time. Without coaching start watching these YouTube channels: - Coach John Shepard (jump coach m, but does fantastic work for sprinters, my go to) - Athlete X, Cody Bidlow Start by learning to do your basic sprint drills link to this video I’m serious, master these drills and do them ALL THE TIME. Don’t just do them, do them really well. Try to keep knee bend to a minimum. Then, plyometrics are going to be your bread and butter for developing speed. When doing plyo, treat the floor like a hot frying pan. Reacting quickly off the floor is more important than anything.…
