Dan Pfaff discusses identifying movement red flags that can lead to acute or chronic injuries in athletes.
In one of our recent Coaching Eye Program Live Discussions, Dan defined “red flags” in simple, practical terms: Red flags are movement aberrations that raise real concern. The kind that can lead to a severe acute injury. Or quietly drive the chronic issue your athlete has been battling into deeper, longer-term trouble. This is where coaching becomes diagnostic. If an athlete’s chronic injury keeps escalating, that is a cue to review the film. If certain acute injuries show up at the same time each year, that is a cue to review the film. Patterns leave clues. The skill lies in knowing what to look for, when to look for it, and how to interpret what you’re seeing. That is the work inside Coaching Eye. Building an arsenal of observation so you can spot risk early, intervene intelligently, and protect performance before it breaks down. — If you want to develop a clearer process for seeing movement, making sense of complexity, and connecting observation to action, the next Coaching Eye cohort begins May 2026. 👀 Interested in being part of Coach Pfaff's next group? 👉 Head here to learn more and register: loom.ly/qtcqnioWhy it's here
