An analysis of arrested motion and deceleration mechanics using Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford as an example.
Arrested motion is a term used to describe what happens when a body, or parts of that body are stopped in a particular sequence. When executed well, as per this example featuring Olympic Champion, Greg Rutherford, deceleration activities can be performed without undue stress on the body. Realize however, that if decelerations are executed poorly, those forces are injury risks to the athlete. Train and measure deceleration ability just as diligently as you train acceleration ability. Elite 100m sprinters consistently finish halfway round the bend, because they learned the hard way that sudden, untrained deceleration comes at a cost. 🌐Learn more by searching 'ALTIS Foundation Course'. #biomechanics #sprinter #speed #jumpingWhy it's here
