What commenters say. Highly recommended for studying a relaxed neck position, full range of motion, and proper step length during block starts.

On “Thoughts on my start? Don’t really have a sprinting coach at my school, so i look to the internet for technique”

Looks pretty good! Try relaxing your neck just a tad in the mark/set positions & Let your head hang. This should help you with staying low/horizontal. Notice Powell relaxed neck here: link to this video I think your hips come up a little high in the set position. Position a little lower so you're really launching forward rather than up. Your body wants to straighten out when you leave the blocks, so if your hips are a little lower, you'll come out more horizontal. 4 pt. start should almost feel like you're falling - but obviously you catch yourself. If your shoulders are strong enough, I even suggest leaning your body weight into your arms during mark/set positions so if you were to let go- you'd fa…

On “20m Form Check - 3.17”

…e the body memory you have from the day before and transfer them onto the track. 3. Watch slow motion starts. Appreciate how they are able to utilize the full range of motion of their legs. That full ROM is the difference between acceleration and top speed. One uses everything, the other is just a tap down on the ground to maintain what is left. ([video or [video 4. And truthfully, I've watched the video something like 30 times now and I don't think it's as glaring as I originally thought. If you want more detailed tips I would appreciate a slow motion vid. Happy to help. DM if you have other Qs…

On “How to fix “getting up too soon” on start (first 30m)”

On “Starting advice/tips?”

1. Determine which is your most naturally reactive leg. That’s the leg you will want outstretched behind you at the start. To do this, stand upright and still, and wait while a coach or a friend suddenly and unexpectedly pushes you from behind. Instinctively your right leg or your left leg will move forward to break your falll. That’s your reactive leg, which will most naturally stride forward at the sound of the starting gun. 2. Adjust your blocks and your position so that your reactive leg is fully extended in the blocks. That leg’s job is to stride forward at the gun. Your other leg is a coiled spring and will launch you forward. 3. At the gun your arm opposite the reactive leg must a…
