Dan Pfaff explains how he coaches balance, coordination, and movement awareness in a T47 Paralympic sprinter.
How do you coach balance and coordination in a T47 athlete with one arm missing? Taken from our most recent Coaching Eye Live Immersion session, this clip features Dan Pfaff explaining how he approaches the athlete’s awareness of their own movement: how the shoulders and hips work together, where the torso leans, and how joint positioning and sequencing change through each stride. Warm-ups, sprint drills, dribbles, and rudiment jumps all provide opportunities to build that awareness—helping the athlete recognize where they’re overusing or underusing parts of the body. The question also has relevance in field and court sports. Carrying a racket or stick changes how the arms contribute to balance, rhythm, and changes of direction. 📥 Develop your own observation skills with Coaching Eye 101, our free introductory guide featuring an ebook and a full webinar with Dan Pfaff. Inside you will learn: • where your eyes should go first • how to organise what you see • key movement clues that matter • simple ways to structure your attention • how Dan Pfaff studies movement in practice 🔗 Get your free guide, including ebook and accompanying webinar recording: loom.ly/uXtc61AWhy it's here
