Dan Pfaff explains why elite sprinters move through dynamic arm positions rather than maintaining a fixed ninety-degree elbow angle.

A lot of coaches cue arm action. Far fewer coach the landmarks that organize it. In this clip, Dan breaks down a point that changes how you look at sprint mechanics: elite athletes move through positions, not fixed shapes. The front-side block. The back-side elbow opening. The timing of those landmark positions before direction changes. That matters because arm action is tied to the whole system. As Dan says here, the elbow opens and closes because the leg system is opening and closing. That is coordination. That is rhythm. That is mechanics seen as an integrated pattern, not isolated parts. And when coaches miss those relationships, they often cue symptoms instead of solving problems. This is the kind of reasoning we work through inside The Coaching Eye. How to see movement through landmarks, interactions, and cause-effect relationships so intervention gets sharper. ⏳ Registration closes tomorrow night.
