Tony Holler presents his Feed the Cats philosophy for coaching the 400m, prioritizing maximum speed over traditional high-volume endurance training.

Today's video discusses how to coach and train athletes for the 400m and become a better sprinter in the process. I believe that sprinting and max speed trumps endurance training when it comes to the 400, and I walkthrough this approach throughout this presentation. The link to the full course can be found below. What commenters say. Recommended for 400m runners looking to design an off-season training plan focused on speed rather than high-volume aerobic work.

Ideas for off season training link to this video Heyo. I made a post earlier with an old plan I found for training and learned that it wouldnt help me much. I was told to watch a video by tony holler and so I found this one. (Timestamp that really matters about 21:35 to 26:00). Im a 400 runner at 53 right now trying to drop to 49 and I want some help coming up with a off season training plan within the guidelines in that video. Any and all advice is welcome!

On “clyde hart training schedule”

link to this video I was watching this video and I think I'll take this route for off season training. I can see how that would be more beneficial. Do you have like any work outs you like to do for the x factor days or anything? Because I don't have too many ideas and I'd love some input. Tryna drop to a 49

On “What is Feed the Cats?”

…re an ~~athlete/~~sprinter, has to "build a big aerobic engine", or do a 1 month block of GPP in preparation for another phase, and so on. "Tempo runs" (80% x 150m repeats, etc). Very high volumes. etc. But yes, FTC is some basic common sense stuff. Although, some of Holler's stuff about the 400m is more interesting, and a more "deeper". [video also here: [video ... about the 400m, and you really have to come out in the 1st 200 very fast, faster than you think you should. You're better off having a fast 200, and it might be ok to die from 201-400. (50 min mark if it didn't link).…
